About Us

I live with additional health needs that have shaped my entire journey. From childhood, learning was always a struggle for me—I couldn’t pick things up in the same way as others. That experience gave me the drive to become the kind of teacher I once needed: patient, understanding, and ready to adapt for every individual.
I trained and qualified, and I loved it. I discovered a real gift for helping students thrive in their own way, and I was fascinated by learning differences—by how so-called "disabilities" were actually unique strengths.
Then my world collapsed. I went through something both physically and mentally traumatic, which left me with lifelong health conditions. Suddenly, I felt broken. I had no confidence, no energy, and no sense of who I was anymore.
At the Isle of Wight Festival, on the Cirque de la Quirk stage, I saw a girl performing with a hula hoop. She was free, creative, unapologetically herself. I thought: I’ve overcome so many challenges already. I always tell my students to be brave, to see their additional needs as superpowers—so what’s stopping me from doing the same? The very next day, I bought my first hula hoop.
It started small—just a simple circle of plastic—but it became my lifeline. Every day, I pushed myself a little more. Hooping helped me manage my health, it gave me strength, energy, confidence, and joy. I documented my journey on social media, not for attention but to inspire others who were struggling too.
Within a year, I was back at that festival—but this time on stage, performing with my own hula hoop. I had achieved the goal that once felt impossible for the broken version of me.

Creating Wild Woods

That was only the beginning. I fell head over heels in love with circus, picking up poi, staff, plates, aerial hoop—every prop I could. Circus gave me not just skills, but healing, and I knew I had to share that gift with others.
So I created Wild Woods Workshops: a safe, supportive space where people of all ages, abilities, and needs could learn circus skills—not just to perform, but to grow. Here, confidence is built, individuality is celebrated, and “additional needs” are seen as additional superpowers.
At the same time, I formed Wild Woods Events: bringing together a team of multi-talented performers to deliver spectacular fire, LED, circus, and magic shows for festivals, parties, and community events.

Kai is Azaria's right hand man at Wild Woods. Kai picked up his first set of Flowersticks over a decade ago at a music festival and has been obsessed with Circus ever since! Starting out with Ryde Extreme Performers he performed with Fire & LED props at the Isle of Wight Festival, Bestival, Carnivals and much more! Alongside performing he's also been teaching and leading Circus workshops from the very beginning of his Circus journey. Flower sticks were his first prop and still his favourite to this day, but Kai loves all circus props and is happy to help you learn, whatever takes your fancy.
